Wharfedale M5 Player.........Help,Help,Help
Let me start by thanking anyone who replies, as no matter what you say, I could not be more confused that right now!! :o)
I bought a Wharfedale M5 DVD player 4 or 5 months ago and have it my room at home(still live with parents!!).
I am moving to my own flat soon, and I will be buying an outrageously expensive TV and want to have a sound system to match. I know that the Wharfedale has 5.1 capabilities as all the sockets are at the back of the player, but what I am wondering is what do I need to buy in the way of speakers etc to set it up,so I have the full 5.1 system working in my new abode.
In simple, do I need to buy an amp and speaker set, like a home cinema kit or something like that??
As you can see I am totally lost, so all help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks
Kris
P.S. Help me out, and I may even invite you round for a beer when I`ve got it up and running!! :o) Can`t say fairer than that!!

Hi
Can i ask you an off topic question about your M5 player does it have component output?
TIA

Well whatever you do you are going to need an amp, 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer. You can connect these up in different ways with the M5 but you are going to need them either way.
Meow.
Sorry thats a bit vague. I`m in a rush.

Try this link :-

It`ll give you an idea on AV (sound) systems for the M5 - and lots of other stuff too.
The M5 does have component out connectors which are really only much use with a TV that supports it - some of the Toshiba TV`s do, but as usual it`s the expensive one!. Component connect is considered the best way to view the output signal from the DVD player with RGB coming a close second.
Hope this helps

Actually, component-in socketry has reached the £600-700 28" Toshiba ZD07B now, so it`s not so far out of reach as you thought, Norman !
