Page 1 of Chipped PS2 - What`s that all about then ?

I`m buying a PS2, mainly for games, but I also intend to use it as a DVD player in the spare room.
I`ve heard they can now be chipped. What does this involve ? I take it the warranty then goes out the window ?, but I also assume it would then let
` a person ` play some of those copy games that this ` person ` may, or may not, have heard of and may, or may not, be able to get for fiver,instead of £40, should that ` person ` be willing to open themselves to the very obvious legal implications that may ensue...
Phew...
Where can such a rogue buy such equipment ? I only want to know so I can avoid buying one from there....

yeah, but it really isnt as simple as that. if you do get it chipped you still have to do lot of disc swapping to play copied games.

Is it kinda like my old PS1 ? I had to insert a ` real ` game until it spun past the copyright stuff, then it stopped spinning and I could insert a copy game.Nine times out of ten they worked. Some didn`t.
Same idea ?
Any experience of it ?
I know it`s ` unethical ` but at £44 a bleedin game what do they expect ??!!

just but one from a well respected retailer like me ive been informed (ah hem) that people can purchase self booting ps2 dvdrom games which does not require any chipping and disc swapping at all so all those people taking peoples eyes out charging £40 plus will be sick as a parrot (obviously to play an backed up copy of a game you need to have the original) if u know the drift :) the forums on here do not approve of piracy which is correctly so but if you look around the net you will find more info regarding ps2 stuff i myself have bought a ps2 not as good as my dcast ive yet to play an overwhelming game on it yet come on the xbox id save yer monet til aptril the x box rocks!

i been playin on me mates ps2, no were as gud as me DC but GTA3 is one hell of a game, thats all thats good on the ps2...

i will save me money for a xbox
