Toshiba SD210E problems playing MP3 files (and VCD)

Gary Stirman (Harmless) posted this on Friday, 21st December 2001, 12:35

Recently purchased Toshiba SD210E after reading numerous glowing reviews and also according to the Technical Specs it supports CDR, MP3 & VCD format.

Rather disappointed to discover that the MP3 playback isn`t upto scratch with some discs not being reckonised and other playing but tracks appear to jump, stick and give occasional clicking noises.

The MP3 files are being run from CDR disc (as apposed to CDRW).

Has anyone else come across problems of this sort. It has been suggested by salesman in a hi-fi shop that Toshiba players are notorious poor at playing MP3 files and he had 3 player returned because of this.

Also I have tried three VCD movies (from CDR) one played perfectly yet the other two played but the picture was pixelated and kept pausing.

Are these two issues known problems with Toshiba SD210E players or ave a got a faulty player?

Any help or advice appreciated.

Regards

Your mp3 prob may be with thee bitrate they were encoded in , if some of your tracks were higher than 128kbps then you player might not recognise them.

I have the same problem on my crappy Himage player , if it cames across such tracks it either plays nothing at all or skips & stutters.

As fer your vcd`s this is down to the media used , mine is happy as larry with verb`s/samsung media but certain brands it just dont like. Also it could be down to the speed it were burnt in the first place.

Were all 3 films on the same type of media?
