Page 1 of Reoc A3 Review in What Video
Hardware Forum
I have just received my Feb issue of What Video & TV mag and they have a review of this DVD player from Safeway.
They gave it quite a good review apart from some imperfection with the colour for the S-video output.
They mention Mp3 but not VCD or CD-R/RW`s? Do they play them?
There is also a multi-region hack and all for £99! Looks good if you can`t find a Dansai.
http://reoc.keyservice.co.uk/a3/home should tell you what you need. The site confirms VCD playback.
What HiFi also reviewed the player and they mention CD-RWs.

Thanks for the info
Just thought I`d add some input on the A3 and A5.
4 days ago I bought a Reoc A3 and yes I can confirm it plays VCD, SVCD and MP3 on every type of CDR and CDRW I through at it. I only have an 8x writer so wasn`t able to write at any higher speed but it read every CDR/W.
But.....
It doesn`t have an RGB output via SCART which was a major let-down, only composite video via SCART. But to be honest, once I changed to using the S-VIDEO connectors to my TV it was excellent.
Saying all that, I`ve just took it back to SafeWay for an exchange, I added the extra and got the A5 instead.
The A3, whether it was just my one or not I don`t know, definately had a audio `lip-sync` problem with Video-CD`s. Every single Video-CD I tried (on different media) ALL had sync problems. All these CD`s worked in 2 other DVD players fine (whafedale/cyberhome). Like I say, I don`t know whether it was a `one-off` or not.
I now have the A5 and it is definately worth the extra money, much better build quality, much more menus e.t.c., plays anything and I now get no audio sync problems.

For the A5 - can you set the audo mode for "large" speakers so you can re-direct the sub-woofer signal - I would need this feature - otherwise I`m sold.
