which dvd player is the best value i.e cheap or is the easiest to hack ie multi region preferably one from well known supermarkets etc
You should look at the M5 from Tesco`s. £149 remote hack, and just about every output you could ask for on the back. I got one for my parents and I`m quite impressed!

IMHO, a budget, yet good palyer that deserves a mention at least is the Wharfedale 750.
It`s an OK player and looks aren`t the best, but the playback is good and that`s what counts I suppose.
It`s remote hackable to play region 1 (all?) DVD`s and can play RCE DVD`s with a bit of help.
This is available from Tesco stores. Not bad.

(Of course, as r8ss0 said, the Wharfedale M5 is good and plays MP3`s. Know what the price difference is?)

Do Tesco still have stocks of the Wharfie 750/s? I thought they sold out of those about a year ago.
Mike
Tesco certainly don`t sell `em, but a company called Hyperfi sell graded ones for £80 - not got a website, but bag yerself a copy of What HiFi for their adverts (usually dark green pages).
Similarly, the M5 is getting harder and harder to obtain to track down for £149, as Tesco have not reordered from Sampo. A company called Futuretronic sell them for £180, although they`re not recognised by Wharfedale as an official supplier ;-)
