So do you guys not mind having to get up and walk over to the Sub speaker to adjust the volume? Or does the Packard Bell include a remote?

I was tempted by the bargain price but just could not face the idea of not having a remote control :)
It`d be like being back in the 70s/80s when TVs didnt have remote controls - ARGHH!

I agree! I have this system set up with my DVD player as a stop gap unitl I can afford and amp & surround speaker separates. It is very annoying having no remote. It sometimes puts me off watching because not only do I have no remote, I have to turn off the tv`s internal speakers maually (theres a switch on the back) & I have to set the DVD player from two channel to 5.1 (at least this can be done via remote) then fire up the packard bell before I can settle down to a good movie.

Oh for the day when I can send DVD, TV, VCR & cable though an amp!

Or am I just lazy?

Dominic

If you want a cheapy system WITH remote, try the Novatech HT510 http://www1.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?parameters=stockcode=NOV-HT510` - £100

Richard,
I considered the Novatech and almost ordered it - until I came across the Videlogic Digitheatre.

I also watch a fair bit of OnDigital (Sky Premier etc) and still have a fair VHS collection (argh!!) so the Dolby Pro Logic option was desirable.

That along with the Dolby Digital capabilities of the DigiTheatre convinced me to spend the extra £100 - and as an added bonus I personally think the DigiTheatre Silver looks a damn site nicer than the HT510.

I have only seen 1 review of the HT510 but have found many more for the Digitheatre - both PC websites and DVD / Home Cinema sites - and the reviews reckon the Digitheatre is suprisingly good.

I hopefully get mine tonight/tomorrow morning! Will post an update once I have played around with it. I had a Sony ProLogic amp based 4.1 setup uptil Tuesday day (sold it in Loot) and so will have something to compare against.
