i`ve recently bought a Cyberhome 528 and would like to get the Yamaha VS-10. the problem is my TV is old and has no stereo outputs. will it work?

It will work for DVD. You will connect a SCART from DVD to TV for picture, then a digital cable (not sure if the VS10 takes optical or coaxial, but either will do) from the DVD to the VS10 for sound.

All you will miss is the ability to run the sound from TV programs through the VS10, although if your VCR has phono outputs, you could use these (if tuned to the same channel, of course!!).
http://www.hifibitz.co.uk had the vs10 for £279 recently - best price I`ve seen.

Just to clarify on an earlier point, the VS-10 has 2 optical inputs, one rear and one in the front, the proposed use is for the rear to be hooked to a DVD player and the front to a PS2. I think there are also 2 co-axial inputs but i cant turn it round at the moment to look due to it sharing a shelf with a SNES (i`d forgotton what a great machine it was). But the VS-10 is a truely excellent machine.

I`m pretty sure the VS10 doesn`t have coaxial digital inputs...(goes off to check)...

Yup, xHCx is correct : optical digital input on front and back, but no coaxial...
