can anyone tell me if there are any dvd players other than the dmr e20 which will play dvd ram been searching for weeks had no joy

No, as DVD-RAM is primarily for data storage, no matter what Pansonic say !

However, all is not glum, as the Panny will also record standard DVD-R discs, which should play back in the vast majority of home DVD players.

yes, Panasonic make a portable player that plays Ram discs and they are releasing Ram-compatible players this year according to trade press.
Iv`e had all three formats to try out and the ram is by far the most flexible in terms of editing and recording time. Also is best for long play recording quality. In fact, so good I bought 2!!
