Page 1 of Widescreen Problems

I have a philips 711 dvd player. When i connect it 2 my sony or philips tv, and put the dvd player in 16:9 mode, it will play most widescreen dvd`s such as 1:85:1 in full screen. But when i connect it 2 my ferguson tv it won`t do this, and a white line just appears at the top of the film. Any idea`a????

I`ve heard of this on a number of TVs and apparantley it is a design fault with the anamorphic coding on the TV. I don`t think there is anything you can do to fix it.
