DVD Player/Geriatric TV compatibility

Niall McCourt (Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 8th June 2002, 15:19

I`d really like to get a DVD player but our TV is so old it doesn`t have SCART or S-VHS sockets. It has the coaxial aerial socket but that`s it. I asked in a store about this, and the guy said he didn`t know of any DVD players which would connect to a TV via coaxial cable. So...

Is there some sort of adaptor/connector I could get, SCART/coaxial or S-VHS/coaxial, so that I could buy a DVD player and actually be able to use it? I don`t know if these actually exist, I`m guessing they probably do but I wouldn`t know where to look or how much one would cost. Alternatively, does anyone know of DVD players which *can* connect to a TV via a coaxial cable?

Thanks,

Niall

If you have a Video Recorder, all you have to do is to connect the DVD to VCR via scart and on your TV, select the channel button which you would normally use to watch Video.
On your Vcr -select aux/ext/camera ( depending on your vcr.)
But you must ensure that the DVD players` macrovision can be disabled. ( e.g. Dansai 852).
Hope this helps or buy my Telly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

I have an older tv too. You need an RF modulator which will set u back £20-30 at somewhere like Maplins, as connecting directly from the player to the tv won`t work.

You wont need RF modulator if you are routing via VCR, as you will be using vcr`s modulator.
