Genesis eye comeback

Genesis are set to reform to record a new album and go on tour, according to reports.

Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins are reportedly planning to make the announcement at a press conference on Tuesday in Los Angeles.

Gabriel left Genesis in 1976 and has since had a successful solo career.

Genesis` last studio album, `Calling All Stations`, was released in September 1997, reaching number two in the album chart.

A new album from a reformed Genesis would surely prove a hit with the band`s legion of fans.

There`s been rumours for the last few years of a reunions gig. The band and their management have said they won`t be performing together in the next twelve months.
Apparently the band The Cars are about to make an announcement and it could be another newspaper cockup. Hope not though - it would be awesome.
Been watching a couple of Genesis DVD`s over the last few days - from the Duke tour and the restored Shepperton one with PG. :D

I take it with a pinch of salt - there`s been loads of these rumours ever since they all got together again for the first "Archive" set. I could see Phil coming back, but not Peter.

Personally, I would have loved for Genesis to continue with Ray Wilson - I thought the "CAS" album and tour were great... :)

A reunion would be awesome, but I doubt wether PG could remember all the words now!
At Milton Keynes "6 of the best" he had a lot of pieces of paper on stage with the lyrics on!

A new album would be great though, how about, "The Lamb gets up from Broadway" ;)

I have heard it through the grapevine somewhere that the PG Genesis albums are being re-released in 5.1 surround sound :D

That`s official - but soooo delayed. And they`re being done as SACD`s (well, were the last time I read about it) not DVD-A or even dolby digital/DTS, so most people this side of the Atlantic won`t be able to play them anyway. :(
Plus, Phil Collins has just split up (again) from his wife so he`s available.. :o
EDIT: Found some stuff..
Some stuff here on the Lamb and Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot here.
An interview here.

...just been pondering on this...if there was a reform of the classic line-up (for me the ONLY line up ....they went all AOR over the course of two or three albums after PG left :/ )...would Steve Hackett be on board? The sound changed dramatically when he left ...and actually (for me...sorry) was precisely the point when they transmogrified into something incedibly dull....imvho!!

....recently worked with PG`s nephew who was exchanging text messages with th egreat man when we were out...even one step removed I felt totally starstruck!!!! :x ...

Yeh, gotta agree with that....CAS is a great album with some excellent tracks - just a shame some were not longer, especially Congo. It even sounds like it wasn`t finished as it fades out...needed to be in the vein of Domino or Home By The Sea.

I was impressed with Ray Wilson too.....went to the NEC gig and thought he did a fantastic job - it can`t have been easy to get up in front of Genesis fans spanning 25 odd years and belting out some old classics but he pulled it off no problem.

why take life so seriously..its not like you are going to make it out alive

Apparently on American radio in April 2006 (one month ago) Phil Collins said that a Genesis meeting is to take place in November 06, with a view to touring the Lamb shows in a limited number of cities, WOW :D :D :D :D :D :D
