Ruined cds

Hi all,

I hope some one here can help me with my problem. At the turn of the `90s i bought the cd boxset of "the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy". now, if you have ever listened to this, it is great, but anyway, I wanted to share the experience with my son, now 12. I unearthed the cds from the cupboard, but to my dismay, all six of the cds are completely useless. they all have pin holes in the reflective coating and you can see right through them and are unplayable.

My question is, do i have any come back on these, as they were sold as "indestructable" and "the way forward", i would have been better off buying them on vinyl as they would have still been ok. I have always treated my cds with care, but it seems £60 of investment is down the shoot.

Does anyone know who i should get in contact with regarding this problem, they are a BBC product, so perhaps it should be them, but i don`t know.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Adam

I`m not sure, you might be lucky and get them to send you fresh ones (maybe with a handling charge), but since the packaging didn`t advertise them as being indesctructable, that was the news media (and Tomorrows World) mainly which did that, I suspect not.

I would feel, in this situation, that you have a moral right to torrent them.

Thanks for the reply. it`s one of those things that, i think, will happen with older cds. it shouldn`t happen at all. It`s not just the cost, but i was really looking forward to introducing my boy to the world of the pan galactic gargle blaster et al.

would anybody know who i could contact regarding this?

thanks.
