Page 1 of Missing internet icon
PCs & Mobiles Forum
My internet icon (two monitors flashing) in the bottom right hand corner of the screen has disappeared. How do I get it back? I`m running XP Prof btw.
Thanks
right click my network places, right click local area connection, select properties ... may need to untick, then tick tickbox show icon in notification area when connected
The `local area connection` option does not appear whrn I right click om my network places (?)
it might just be hidden by windows. right click on the task bar, click properties (now i`m working from memory, this work`s machine is running 2000). think it is on this first menu, bottom half. just have a scroll though all the icons, and see if always hide is set on the icon that you have lost. change it to never hidden (or what ever the option is) and hopefully it has returned.
Right click the internet explorer icon and select properties. Select the Connections tab and the highlight your connection and select settings. Click on properties and at the bottom should be a check box called show icon in notification area when connected. Check this.
If the above doesn`t work right click the taskbar and click properties. Uncheck the box at the bottom that says hide inactive icons.

If that doesn`t work maybe it is switched off under "Component Services"? That is what happened to me.
:)
