What do you guys do with your pc overnight. Do you leave it powered up with the monitor off. Or do you turn the whole lot off?
I know it`s a stupid question, but some of my friends leave them on, some off. Opinions please. :p

Personally I switch mine off overnight. Even with the Antec "Quiet Case" that I have it still gives off some noise - above the `normal` nighttime levels

Thanks guys.

Both on all night when I am home at weekends........LCDs both off.

last time i left the computer on while out at a nightclub there was a brownout (clock radio and cordless phone both had flashing displays) and the screen was locked on scandisk and my harddrive died. I reckon I must live in an area where the substations are 50 years old since every once in a while the lights will dim or sometimes the power drops to cause resets. Since then I`ve bought a UPS but if you get any brownouts i`d suggest turning your PC off overnight
I`ve always wondered that. I turn mine off... because it`s in my bedroom, and the fan humming away does my head in no end. :(
Thank you all for your replies. Were I live it is very rare to get a powercut, and my PC is in a home office/relaxing room all to myself and when I go to my bedroom I can`t hear the fan.

C`mon guys shape up. No one ever heard of Greenhouse gases and power conservation. Only things left on standby in my house is DVD, Sky & VCR. Switch it off!
Pete
I turn mine off unless I am downloading something. It`s better for the PC and the planet (man!) Also if you tweak XP correctly it powers up dead quick anyway.
