New Sony dual layer DVD burner £149.99

OK, so I don`t know what these will retail for generally as I haven`t seen them elsewhere but I`d wager that this is a very good price for anyone keen to have this long-awaited item.

As for whether you need special discs, I`m guessing that you do and they`d probably cost around twice as much as normal DVD-/+Rs.

I don`t fancy that and I`m sure most people who read these forums would be just as wary but maybe someone will make use of that firmware flashing technique.

There`s a site called `Google` and if you go to it you can search for `dual layer discs`.

I know it sounds a bit like hard work but...

I don`t see why people keep posting this as a bargain. Just because bigpockets are the first to have it in stock doesn`t mean it`s the cheapest. That`s actually the normal RRP.

I found to my dissapointment that some if not most OEM Sony drives are in fact made by LiteOn and they do not upgrade the firmware as regularly as their own!

Go for Pioneer Retail (or hack and OEM) or company you know make their own drives like LiteOn.

Crap sounding name but remarkably good drives for the money!

Frikoriko,

I posted it as something new that I considered good value for that price.

It might be the going rate but if you know of somewhere substantially cheaper then why not leave a more helpful post and enlighten us?

Not sure it`s good value as you say as the LiteOn drive will be about £97.

Dabs will have the Sonys in stock by the end of the week
