Are you finalising the disc?

Firstly, what software are you using to create the DVDs, and how are you doing it? The issue here is whether the discs you`re writing actually conform to the DVD-Video spec. It`s quite possible to write non-standard discs which work on some players but not others.

Secondly, which makes and types of blank DVD are you using? Have you tried several different brands, and have you tried both -R and +R? Some blanks (especially cheap ones) are just plain dodgy, and many players have difficulty reading them.

Here`s a test you can do: download and install DVD Decrypter, find an original DVD in your collection which is single-layer (DVD Decrypter will tell you how many layers the disc has), then make a direct copy using Decrypter`s "ISO Read" and "ISO Write" modes.

If the copy fails to work, but the original plays fine, then it`s the blank discs which are at fault - you need to try some different ones. On the other hand, if the copy does work, it`s the software you need to look at.

Would you mind turning your Caps Lock off by the way? It makes your posts hard to read. :D

Ah! At least you know it`s down to the software you`re using, rather than the discs.

I`m not very familiar with the Pinnacle software, but I do know that some people have had problems when writing DVDs with it. I think you can get Pinnacle to create a DVD image file, which you can then write to DVD using a different program such as Nero. Give that a try if you can.

A friend of mine uses Pinnacle software, I would go down the route of using DVD Shrink & Nero\Easy DVD depending on what burning software is available.

This method of working seems to suit 9\10 owners who said their cats preferred it.

Hi mate tried a few things if i create a dvd with the pinnacle software like home movie off camcorder it works but the resulting dvd will not play on any player but if i then make a copy of the dvd using dvd x copy software it plays on all my machines and if i use dvd x copy to copy any other dvd once again it works ok , but if i copy dvd files onto my pc and then try to create a dvd using nero then it will not work maybe i am doing something wrong , this message comes up when i attemp to write to disk : dvd-video files complience test failed . the resulting dvd-video might be unplayable . something i also forgot was that i downloaded Anydvd software onto my pc the other day

cheers mate
