Question on the Epson R300 printer...

sj (Elite) posted this on Monday, 29th November 2004, 19:14

I know this is basically the same as the R200 but with te addition of the card reader (and option of the screen).
Question is, can you use the card reader to get pics onto the PC instead of just printing them? ie does XP see the reader as extra hard drives? (like it does a `normal` reader)

Hi, i have an R300 and as soon as you switch it on you see extra drive in My Computer on windows Xp. I use mine as normal card reader to transfer pics from my memory stick. Hope this helps. :)

The likes of Dixons, PCWorld and Comet all have this for £84.99 delievered online but are £99 in-store. Do any of these places give it for the online price instore if you ask? It would save them delivering it :D

Chance your arm in your local Currys or Dixons.

Not all stores will do it though, so it`s a "chance" shot.

Just thought I`d make use of this thread to ask my questions. :)

Firstly, the dvd printing, how exactly do you do it? Do you print the dvd first, or burn it first, or doesn`t it matter?

Also, where is the best place to get ink from at the moment? I looked on SVP, but they`ve got 3 different types. Anyone tried the really cheap ones?

Thanks. :)

As andy-m said above..

It really is just a card reader/writer. My son uses it to copy mp3`s from the PC onto his MMC card for use in his mobile phone. My point is it is not just a card reader - you can write to it via the printer too :)

Sam.

I burn first, print second. I suspect it probably doesn`t make a difference the other way round, though, as long as you leave the printed disc for a few minutes before burning to make sure the ink`s fully dry.

Thanks. I can`t wait to see it in action, I`m sceptical that it can really do it without scratching the disc :D Just did my first photo print, not even on the best photo setting, and I`m impressed. Shame it`s only a picture of Knightrider for my son, but it is a very nice print :D
