Google Talk

Now available here.

Free calls, at the moment only PC to PC and with Google Talk installed. In the future they hope it will be to landline and mobiles, all free.
PS. Just installed it. You have to have a Gmail account.

I don`t see what the hype is. It does less than what Skype can already do. And even Microsoft don`t force you to use a hotmail account with MSN. I can`t believe this made the front page of the Evening Standard.

I`ve just downloaded it to see what the fuss is about. As Jemson says, I can`t see what the fuss it about. It doesn`t seem to do anything that other instant messengers can do, you can talk of even video chat with msn and yahoo messengers.

What it did do is jog my memory that I haven`t used Trillian in a while, so I`ve updated that. Now that is more useful, as you can be logged into MSN, Yahoo, AOL and ICQ, all at once, using one messenger program, no need to have mulitple messengers running if you know people on different systems.

Already on Trillian, works fine.
This Google Talk is much the same as all the others at the moment. It is the future where they plan to be able to use it for landline and mobile `phones. I have Skype but don`t know anyone else who does. Plenty use Google though and will probably download that than (to them) to an obscure name.

Front page of the Evening Standard?? Are you sure it wasn`t front page of the Sun as they`re the ones who likes to sensationalise trivial things like this.
