Scanning Negatives

calenture (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 9th November 2005, 09:17

Would like to scan a lot of negatives of old photos. Do I need a special scanner or just one with a really high resolution? Anyone doing this already and care to recommend a scanner that can do this job?

cheers

I have the Epson Perfection 2480 Photo which is a perfectly good, but afforable scanner, that comes with a negative adapter. I think you really do need a scanner with an adapter. If you`re really serious, a dedicated negative scanner would give much better results. It all depends on the amount you`re doing, and the budget.

I`ve got the Epson Perfection 2580 Photo which I think is exactly the same as the one Dan has, but with the automated film adapter. If you are gonna do a lot of them then this is really handy.

But a dedicated device will give you a higher resolution and better scan.
