Just been persuaded to buy a PCI card for USB 2.0 (480mps) - is it simply a case of plugging the card into the motherboard and installing and installing the drivers ? Been warned at work - by a techie - (shaking his head) no its not that easy....
Computer has two USB connections off m/board then a further 2 on a board further down that is connected by a connector to the m/board - all are 1.0 ports.
Any advice ?

I recently put a PCI 2.0 card into a PC for a friend. Just stuck it in, booted up & XP recognised it straight away. No drivers needed.

Yep, sounds right. Not sure what problems the techie thinks you might have unless you are running windows 3.1.
If you`re using Windows 98SE or ME (98 and 95 won`t support USB) you will need to install some drivers - these should come with the card, although it`s worth searching the net in case there`s a later version. Otherwise there shouldn`t be a problem - worked fine with my old PC.
Yep on my old PC I bought a USB 2.0 card and plugged it in and it worked, then again I was running XP Professional but I think your techie friend must be running Windows Stonehenge Edition?
