Pioneer DVR-110D or Sony DW-Q30AB2 DVD writer - which do you recommend?
As the title says. Need to add a drive to my new Linux box, but would rather spend a little bit more to upgrade the CD ROM to a DVD writer.
I can get both of these for £30, but which is the better/more reliable of the 2? I currently use LG writers (Superb! - touch wood!) in my other comps, but can`t stretch for this make in my budget PC!!

The Pioneer.
If you can, get the 110 (not the 110D) - it writes to RAM too. Strange they didn`t call the newer model the 111. :/

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

Went to computer fair today and they were selling the LG drives for £29-£30. They seemed to have more of the Pioneer drives available, but as I had arrived later maybe the LGs had sold first?
LB2
Have you tried switching it on........?

The 110 will write to DVD RAM - the 110D will only read DVD RAM. Hope I`m not stating the obvious but RAM means that you can use it like a removable hard disk and able to copy 100000 times.Go for the 110 for the extra fiver it`ll probably cost.
