Page 1 of CD/DVDROM Drive knackered in Laptop - where to go for replacement?

Dead as a dodo - its a Matsus***a/Panasonic UJDA750 CD-R/DVDROM Drive. Had a look at the usual on the net - to buy new cheapest I`ve got is £109.00, cheapest on Ebay is £24.99 but the CD Rewrite don`t work.

Anywhere else I can try - or should I just get an external USB drive?

Go back to ebay, and search including the description on atapi + 12.7mm

Yes your belief is absolutely spot on,
Have a look, it costs nothing, and you`ll save lots of £.
I used to have an Advent laptop my self. I had a few bits for it from ebay that where all perfectly good. All where found in a similair manor to how I`m guiding you.

Just be aware that some Panasonic Internal drives are actually 9.5mm - especially on the newer IBMs etc.

Just double check the existing model number is 12.7mm (apologies if the previous poster has already done this)
