FREE registry cleaners

anybody know any good free software that i can use to flush the registry without buggering up the whole system? The thing seems to hang at startup for a bit since i installed some crappy software a while back, removed it but machines not been the same since....

EasyCleaner from http://personal.inet.fi/business/toniarts/ecleane.htm is the safest registry cleaner I have found - some of the others are a bit too aggressive in what they delete and can mess up certain applications.

I use the last free version of JV16 which is well thought of.

Hmmm .... the one and only time I used JV16 (on a work PC too!) it royally screwed things up - I ended up having to restore the old registry. I would stick to EasyCleaner if I were you.

A common complaint about all the cleaners I had experience with.Two things that you should look for are: A backup/restore funtion,you must accept some risk in this operation.
