Watching an iso?

timechaser (Elite) posted this on Monday, 12th June 2006, 16:23

I ripped a DVD I had borrowed from a friend yday to watch it later - and got an .iso file. I know it can be done i.e. plug up the laptop to the TV and watch it there - the only question is how?

What players are recommended... can a normal DVD playing software handle iso files?

Copy the .ISO to your Hard drive, then open Nero. Select the button to burn Images and find the .ISO folder. After its burnt it should play fine.

Thanks Ben - but am looking for ways of playing/mounting the iso without having to burn it onto a DVD...

You could try VLC Media Player. I know that it supports a number of formats, but not sure about ISO. I found a link to it from here

get daemon tools. It creates as many virtual devices as you need, from which you can mount ISO`s and all kinds of jiggery pokery. It will do exactly what your asking.

Its a superb bit of software, ideal for previewing downloads before you commit a DVD to it.

I have something called virtual clone drive it acts as an extra cd drive on your comp and then you can mount the iso without wasting a cd :D
