i got one the other day but it`s a noisy barstool :/ not a clunky noise, just loud vibration, but it`s louder than the pc.

I always thought they were meant to be fairly quiet from reading PcPro reviews?

Might be the way you have mounted it.

Try tightening the screws, then loosen a notch.

Or see it you can get some small rubber washers to put in there.

By all counts these are meant to be quiet and reliable.

the case it`s in is completely tool-less, & it even makes the noise if i`m holding it in my hand :/ i think it must be a duffer, i`ll take it back to scan & get it swapped.

Doesn`t sound like it`s going to help you in this case, but I have seen hard drives mounted (they are effectively hung) using self adhesive (sticky backed) velcro strips to give sound and vibration isolation and it can be quite effective.

i know what you mean, but in this case it wouldn`t make any difference unless i completely surrounded it in baffling material, but then it`d overheat :( + the case i have is a pretty expensive one & all the rail clips are rubberised & make a very "firm" fit, so theres no vidration there, it seems to be coming from the actual tungston disc as it`s spinning, so i`m not taking any chances with it i`m just gonna get it swapped out, i`ll stick to seagate drives, although i also have 2 maxtors, which i normaly would not touch with a bargpole, but the newer sata ones seem ok :)
