Help, unable to delete partition
Hi all,
Im trying to re install xp but when I get to the bit where Im asked to delete / create a partition it will not let me delete my partition stating that windows has files needed for the re install of xp.
My drive is only 10gb and has about 2-gig left, I have tried to create another partition but nothing happens.
This happened once before and I just re installed xp over the existing one and ended up with double the hard drive space used up.
Can anyone shed any light on this please?
Thanks
RE: Help, unable to delete partition
Can you still get into Windows? If you can does disk manager show the partition?
Do you have a bootbale floppy you could try and use to delete the partition?
Cheers
Nick
RE: Help, unable to delete partition
Are you booting from the CD?
RE: Help, unable to delete partition
If you want to completely wipe the HDD(s) in a PC try the DBAN Linux utility which destroys all data & partitions on all HDD`s in a machine.
******MAKE SURE YOUR DATA DRIVE OR PARTITION IS NOT IN THE PC OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!******
I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

Well I did it, thanks to all for the advise but I had to go with Rassilon, a good piece of kit it is too, up and running again.
Thanks again.

No problemo.
Never use DBAN to wipe a Tiny or machines that have a "hidden" partition on the HDD prior to using the restore CD\DVD as someone at my place of work found out.
