New phone recommendations

Miles (Elite Donator) posted this on Friday, 19th January 2007, 12:23

Hi all

I`ve had an O2 XDA since November time and its been lovely to have my Hotmail etc. at work (when they block our access to emails), but I`ve finally realised I can`t be arsed to carry the thing around. So its going on ebay.

Looks like I`d get around £125 for it based on recently closed listings (its O2 and doesn`t appear to be locked, have tried an Orange sim card which worked anyway)....so looking for a new mobile around that price....and would like recommendations from other peeps.

Quite liking the look of the Razr V3i as a nice small phone. Have a Nokia 6610i as my work phone so Nokia`s are always good....opinions from anyone on this?

Really would like the ability to charge via USB (seems the Razr can do this).

Ta
Miles

Motorola K1 (much better than V3i imo)

Thanks for that.
I`m actually off to Hong Kong next month with work, so I`ve just realised I can probably get an off-contract handset for a fair bit cheaper than they are here.
Might get a 3G one (with backwards compatibility for GSM networks) so its a little future proofed.

The KRZR is working out around £160 for the handset...so not too bad!

Are the LG Chocolate 3G phones any good? I`ve always had nokia, but quite like the keypad of the Chocolate.

Really like my Sony w810i - easy to use, good memory, camera took some better shots than my digital whilst away. Sad but true, picking a new phone is very difficult!

a work colleague of mine has an LG chocolate, & it`s very funky :) not overladen with functions, but it seems like a nice, small, solid phone.

guess it depends what you want out of it, no good for a gadget whore (moi :) ) but a nice phone :)

my own personal favourite at the moment is split between my W850i & the earlier W810i, can`t decide which i prefer, on the one hand the W850i has a few nice tricks (3g/vid calls etc) but imo the W810i is a better "phone" & walkman.....

Thanks for the replies. I managed to sell my XDA for £160 the other night, which I was happy with.

Chris - can you confirm whether the Sony ones you mentioned can charge via the USB connection?

I`m off to Hong Kong in 2 weeks time, so will check out some phones when I`m there.
I`m particularly interested in the Motorola Razr Maxx V3 & V6, which can be had for around £160 off contract in HK.

Cheers
Miles

Motorola phones are the worst user interfacte phone ever designed avoid like the plague (IMHO).

I really like SE looking at a w850i or k800i at the moment music or photos thats the debate. I havent seen a nokia that I have liked the look off since the 6210.

I dont think you can charge and SE phones via usb I may be wrong tho.

Happy owner of the Sony W810i here as well after being a Nokia man for years.

Can confirm it is chargeable via the USB data cable that comes with it. Cracking phone and excellent walkman and camera as others have said.
