Help with ripping music from cd`s
I hope that someone can help me or give me advice I bought a new pc just before xmas
from curry`s I am a novice when it comes to them, we had a old one which we used mainly for putting music on to our mp3`s and my daughter used it for msn I never had any problems ripping music from bought or copied cd`s on this one but the new one when I try to rip cd`s it starts to rip then misses out at least the first two tracks on some its been up to the first 7 tracks it then rips the rest and then goes back and tries to rip the ones that it skipped it eventually rips these but it can take up to half an hour to rip one track is this a hardware fault,or a software fault or is it me being thick and doing somthing wrong all the cd`s I have tried to rip are bought ones if anyone can help me I will be very grateful because I am getting to the stage where I am just going to take it back and ask for a replacement.
RE: Help with ripping music from cd`s
assuming you`re just using windows media player to rip then sounds like a hardware problem
RE: Help with ripping music from cd`s
It may be stating the obvious, but are the cd`s clean? Fingermarks or scratches will cause errors in copying which the software will keep re-trying to encode.

Thank`s for your comments so far the disc`s that I was ripping from appeared to be clean I think it maybe a case of having to get Curry`s to exchange the pc unless somebody else can help thanks SNEB
RE: Help with ripping music from cd`s
They might be copy protected disks, can you copy them with another computer?
RE: Help with ripping music from cd`s
yes I had ripped most of them on my old computer,I had also thought of this but with some of them already been ripped discounted that thought thank`s for your input SNEB
