sounds like you need either a video card driver, or a codec pack. how did you re-install xp ? was it a factory setup disc or just a standard xp disc ? did you have all the original drivers for the pc, or did you let xp find them whilst it set itself up ?

Mmm if im on the right track
I upgraded from 98 to xp and my 3dfx Voodoo driver was win 98 (but then isnt this my graphics card?
Anyway to your reply it was a standard disc and didnt ask to upgrade drivers?
What would a video card driver be etc?

I have a video capture card with Pinnacle disc that I have yet to install as I dont really use it?
Many thanks m8.

At a guess, with the words Voodoo and windows 98, there is nothing you can do to your PC to make DVD playback judder free. You have also probably noticed that your PC seems a bit slower since you installed XP on it.

The only thing you can do is to try a demo of something like cyberlink powerDVD, because its less of a memory hog than windows media player.

Im currently using Win Xp and Sonic Dvd Player.
Its not terrible, I just cant remember the settings you can change within your system to improve playback.
So...

Anyone know what i mean?

tbh, as has been said earlier, if your machine is an older win98 pc thats now running XP which is more power hungry than win 98, try installing the VLC codec/player pack or the Klite codec pack (includes a win 98 style media player) if it is still juddery then it`s a hardware issue not a software problem.

My machine has been totally upgraded along with the operating system Win xp.
I just recently re installed it instead of reformatting my hard drive as usual.

Ive had Win xp for a while and had things running fine, but I remember changing some settings in Device manager somewhere????
One of em was something to do with my ide or ida thing.
There is a standard bunch of settings that is worth checking and I cant remember them and it doesnt seem that anyone knows what i mean!?
Ive got Vlc and ive reinstalled that and now using that and it is still out of sync loads with the words.
