Does Win tv do the job ?

avzone (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 7th March 2007, 17:04

I`ve been looking at the `Tv on your pc` packages at
http://www.hauppauge.com/
I am after purchasing one and wondered do they really work ok or are they a bit of a gimmick ?
What min spec pc do you need really ?
Whats the best one to go for the internal pci board or the usb ?
Do you need usb 2 ?
Many Thanks!

You can pick up a USB DVB tuner from ebuyer for about £20 now.
I have a Cinergy T2 (was slightly more expensive) which I think is fantastic.
I get good reception and a great picture on the screen...ability to record in MPEG2 (then to DVD), and a 7 day EPG (which is standard on freeview).

What spec is the PC you`re thinking of using it on?

I have this USB version on my laptop and I get a great picture and like Milo says you can record straight to MPEG2.

You can get it a bit cheaper from one of their distributors here
