Simple Backup program - any recommendations

stuartdurrant (Competent) posted this on Monday, 21st January 2008, 16:50

I`m looking for a simple backup program which backs up the files specified but not in a compressed form.

I`m not looking for an entire system restore just something which duplicates the files and next time can check for additions or changes

Thanks :D

True Image does a Backup\Restore operation with incremental backups of files IIRC.

Not sure if it does it to a "Mirror" drive or a image.

I use a script that I wrote myself. That combined with a binary called "Robocopy.exe" does my backups nicely. (To both my network drive, if its switched on...and a separate physical drive inside the PC).

What do you want to back up and where to?

Simplest answer I reckon is to use `My Briefcase` in Windowz.

Thanks guys. Essentially I want to back up My Documents and the sub folders plus a few other folders scattered over the pc to an external hard drive.

Later wanted to back up just changes to those folders

Hadn`t thought of Briefcase - I`ll have a look

Many thanks

Sync Toy might do it for you.

I`m trying out sync toy now... looking pretty good. Have been using Briefcase but can be a bit flaky when using between 2 wireless connected laptops. Sync Toy seems to work better.
