Page 1 of LCD Monitor not working
PCs & Mobiles Forum
Hi
My LCD monitor has just stopped working for no apparent reason. I just tried to switch it on and it look like there is no power going to it. Has anyone any experience with these things, am I missing something fundamental? Is there any check I can make to see if it something easy to fix? My feeling is it is knackered and it is probably heading for the dump.
Help please. :(
im assuming you have tried the obvious, fuse in mains plug, power lead properly pushed in. if it runs from a mains adapter is the adapter ok, is the power lead from the adapter plugged in , not damaged, etc etc, some have a main power switch at the rear has anyone turned this off.?.etc etc
Hi
Thanks for the response - I have tried all the obvious stuff you mentioned to no avail. This is a real mystery, no obvious reason for it to completely stop working.
Any other suggestions will be gratefully received.

If your monitor uses a low voltage adapter, say 9v or 12v, see if you have a spare, maybe for a mobile phone, or other low voltage appliance, say a 12v lamp; it maybe just the adapter that is on the blink.
You are spot on mate, it is the power supply. The output on the adaptor says 19v, my laptop adaptor is 15v which powers a small LED light on the monitor but is not powerful enough to to power the monitor itself.
Anyone any suggestions of where i might find a cheap replacement - the monitor spec is V7 Video Seven L19PS 19" LCD TFT.
Thanks for the help.
You need a PSU that delivers the required voltage & importantly the current (or greater).
This will be on the PSU somewhere, then a trip to Maplin or similar might be in order.
I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.
