Page 1 of trying to uninstall avg8 help help ??????????????

hi,just bought a new 2009 kaspersky internet security suite for my laptop as this 2009 is on my base station and works great,i keep on getting at start up on kas installation remove avg 8 which i thought i had earlier,i right clicked on compter and it shows it is still there ihave tried to delete and it wont,so i cant proceed with new install of kaspersky,any ideas would be much appreciated,if you can keep it your replys easy to understand it would help please,thanks peter.

have you tried removing it in control panel>add/remove programs? silly question, but best to start at the beginning

hi,i am running vista premium and went to programs and features and its not shown on the list,peter

it`s clashing with kaspersky, which has probably quarantined a couple of AVG`s files, heres what i`d try.. unplug the internt connection, pres ctrl alt del & stop all the kaspersky processes, then try to uninstall again, if that fails (& theres a good chance it won`t work right away) then make sure kaspersky is still shut down, then runthe avg installer again, but select repair... then restart the lappy, shut down kasperky again, then uninstall AVG, it should uninstall fine then...

EDIT= AVG should be in add remove proggys in vista (whatever name they call it by now :/ )

You might want to try some software that uninstalls for you. I am at work at the moment so I can`t remember what I have used in the past...try doing a serach on Tucows.com.

at work we get Dell PCs they often have McAffee installed which we need to get rid of for Norton (better the devil you know?) but that can be a pain to remove. Often have to go into safe mode, and manual stop the services, then you can uninstall it.

in XP that would be start -> settings -> control panel -> administrative tool -> services

who knows about Vista! Hope I`ve helped a bit though :)

Take a look here; there seems to be an AVG removal tool available from Grisoft, the program`s developers.

hi,many thanks to everyone who helped in the end i did a new install pressed f11,this worked no more avg 8 and kas 2009 installed ok,thanks again to you all for your help,regards peter.
