Google Chrome browser

admars (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 2nd September 2008, 05:52

looks like google`s much rumoured browser may not be vapourware

http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/fresh-take-on-browser.html

looks good on "paper", at least if the claim that if one tab crashes, it only crashes that tab, and not whole browser that`s a big plus.

Only on Windows for time being, Linux and Mac ones in dev still.

I guess it will need adblockplus to take off ;)

should be out today, story on BBC

It looks like IE7 and Opera had a baby.

I love the Awesome Bar in Firefox, so I like the similar address bar in this, but I don`t like how it`s much more faffing about to change search engines than on either Firefox or Opera. I`ll keep it installed, but I`ll be sticking with Firefox as my default browser.

Not tried at home (use Linux), just tried on my XP SP3 laptop at work, doens`t work. uninstalled installed afew times, keep getting

failed to initialise properly error.

looks like it could be Symantic Endpoint related

Seen a few post on various places ppl having problems straight after install, not a good start, and no adblock plus anyway ;)

Google first had your search history, then your email, then your documents online, now your whole browsing history...

Seems pretty good. Ive been using safari and a mac for ages, so I was used to some of the design methods.

I can see it being a bit jarring if you are a maximised window, toolbar kind of person.

I had a quick check to see if it would work with our website and a few of our internal applications. It does, so happy days there. Its also very fast.

It seems ok. i think once the nerds start getting the widgets out it will certainly be a worthy alternative to FF and will probably start eating into its market share.

And its another browser that this forums BB code doesnt work on ;)

I like it but how do you access your bookmarks without opening a new tab?
