Android blocking tethering in US (UK no doubt to follow)

This really annoys me, I wish ofcom would investigate the whole tethering issue. You pay for a mobile tarrif that includes data, why does it matter if that data gets used up by your phone directly or your laptop connected to it?

The amounts you get a month are crap anyway. It is nothing short of a con that they charge you money per month just for turning a feature on or off, it`s as bad as Sky charging for Sky+ above and beyond the price of the box itself.

Is the title of this thread not misleading then?  It is the signal carriers that are stopping the apps working.  I thought it made no sense for the hardware manufacturer to stop it.  Totally agree though, if you`re allowed 1GB a month then it`s up to you how you use it.
