Well, the brand name for phones anyway. Microsoft bought the company a while ago, and are replacing the brand with Lumia (or Microsoft Lumia).

Microsoft's decision to drop the Nokia brand itself doesn't mean that Nokia is going away fully. Nokia still exists as a separate company without its phones business, and the Finnish firm now focuses on mapping and network infrastructure.
Doesn't seem so long ago that Nokia had most of the mobile market, and yet it seems ages ago since Apple launched their first iPhone and began the deathnell for a company that didn't appreciate how important the software that shipped with their hardware was.
I still have my Nokia 6600 somewhere, and another Nokia with bluetooth on it. I don't miss them, and whilst they basically worked, certainly in the case of the 6600, I remember it being unstable and buggy as hell. Plus the way Nokia just pretty much seemed to abandon a phone for updates to fix all the bugs after about 3 months always annoyed me.

Microsoft has announced it will be cutting up to 7,800 positions globally.
These cuts are aimed at restructuring its phone business following its acquisition of Nokia's phone business in 2014.
In addition the firm is writing off $7.6bn related to its purchase of Nokia – note that acquiring Nokia set Microsoft back $7.2bn.
Only a flesh wound!

Nokia will no doubt return, it's almost inevitable some plucky investor has their money waiting for the Microsoft embargo to be loosened next year.
Although, saying this i'm not sure there is a market for Nokia's quirkiness anymore if they want to go all nostalgic with their wacky designs!
Would love to see them come back with a good two fingered return to the dross Microsoft have been churning out with alarming pace recently. Windows Phone is ok but having so many models is plain stupid - the prices differences of around £10 between certain models just doesn't seem to make good business sense at all.
Be interesting to see what happens over the next 12 months...

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..
Westy's back... that's a blast from the past! You still in Cardiff... I'm up that way for next two weeks!
Afternoon gents
sj in reply to your question, not using the Aegos anymore. Sold the entire system to a friend and we now have a Panasonic all in one system instead - our room simply isn't big enough for seperates and it would also be a bit of a waste!
The Pana is an absolutely awesome system though, crispy clean sound and the processing is actually a hell of a lot better than i thought it would be - a terrific surprise
Mark, i live in Bridgend but still work in Cardiff. Although i work out of hours now so you won't see me during the day from Sunday to Wednesday!
How are you both anyway? Are the usual gang still here?
