Page 1 of old Film lenses

howdo :)

a few months ago i bit the bullet and bought an Olympus OM-D E-M5
which features in-body stabilisation.

i've recently aquired a couple of old OM-System lenses (50mm f/1.8
and 135mm f/3.5). i'm looking at getting a 28mm f/2.8 of some description
to use with the OM adaptor.

i notice that vivitar and clubman lenses are approximately half the price
of their Olympus equivalents. 

i know there are a few people who used to use film on here (snaps etc?)
were the vivitar lenses any good?

I had a few lenses for my old Pentax SLR, which I thought were good. When I used them on my Pentax DSLR, I realised they weren't remotely as good as I thought they were. :(

I think the worst was the vivitar wide angle lens I had. But then it was sub £100, and perhaps I'm being unfair comparing it to the three lenses I have now, all of which cost £300-£400.

I can't speak for what's currently available but when I was in touch with all the ranges available Vivitar where a reasonably good after market option.
As Rob says you can't really compare them to something three or four times the price and carrying the same badge as the camera body.
I'd have a think about how much you'll use it therefore what it's worth to you.
Also what you'll do with the images so will you notice any difference.

A good Google about and you should be able to find old reviews on anything you find.

i think for less than £30, they're worth a punt.

i must admit, i'm quite ejoying my OM 50mm and 135mm... there's a
certain charm about them. by no means the sharpest lenses going but
they seem adequate for my needs..

here are a couple, first with the 50 (grain added in PS :) ) the second with 135..
