I always use Play as they are reliable and cheap, so, as with last year, I have placed some orders with them for Xmas prezzies.
The orders were placed on Friday (29/11), yet its taken til today (wed 4/12) for them even to enter the packing stage. They have been packing all day.
I know its christmas and there`ll be alot of orders to contend with, but this is quite a surprise from a company as slick and professional as Play.
Anyone else experiencing problems. Is this just a glitch?

Before you ask, I edited your posting. I emailed you to tell you why, but your email address isn`t valid.
I`ve used them for a couple of years (I think) and they`ve always been reliable, I`ve had a slight problem with the Alan Partridge DVD in that I ordered it so it would be delivered last Monday on it`s release date and still haven`t got it, but I think it was shipped this morning. Other than that no problems at all, certainly not to the extent that some people have. Their R1 deliveries are very swift and overall I`m happy with them. Maybe it`s because it`s nearly Christmas, and maybe word of mouth has just made them more popular than they can cope with?

I have been ordering from Play for the best part of the year (R1s and 2s) and it seems their service levels have been dropping from order to order (with exception of one which arrived exactly 48hrs from me placing the order!)
My most recent order (one which I am still awaiting!)
Leon R1 placed Wed 27 Nov - held at `Processing` stage for nearly day and a half until I called them and they immediately moved onto the next stage of `Packaging`
This then took a whole day to despatch (though it claims it sent out the product on Fri 29 Nov, it couldnt have coz it didnt update till gone 10pm!
and today is Fri 6th Dec....and still awaiting..........
If my package fails to arrive by tommorrow and is consequently `lost` I will vow never to order from them again.

I`ve used play for ages now, but I`ve stoped ordering from them now as they`ve become too unreliable. My LOTR box set was packing for a week, 5 discs have not arrived and everything seems to take forever with them now.
With my first Play order, one of the four dvds never arrived. After the 14 day waiting period Play sent a replacement. That took 11 days to get to me.
Next order was received within five days.
Now I`m waiting for Shadow of The Vampire, which Play say was posted on 29 November, so I`m starting to get bad feelings again.
I like the site, but maybe they`re becoming bigger than they can cope with.

Play seem to be doing this more and more.When you place the order, and its in suppose to be "in stock", then its starts being processed and then packing. When it gets to packing, you cannot cancel your order. And thats when they have you. The item, alot of the time is not "in stock", but what they are doing is billing you for disc, therefore gaining interest for themselves. I know several people who have money go from their account, but the disc is still packing. Rather naughty of them i think, and in a way, its as bad as billing you for an item that is several weeks away form release, like some other DVD companies do.

I placed an order with Play that has `been packing` for 7 days. This aint good. Keep away If I were you...
Play.com are still one of the best e-tailers out there. A simple email to them should sort out any problems you are having.
