Happy New Year!!

I want OZ series 2 but as its over the £18 limit. (this is a region 1 dvd) Which site is best for avoiding a nasty customs sting? I am guessing futureent but have not used them for a while.

thanks

Future Ent are personal importers and ship the goods to you from Sittingbourne, Kent.

Thus, you`ll never get stung by Customs if you order from them :-)

I just received a £30 order from Play yesterday and the package was marked "UK Import VAT Paid" - "Jersey Post".

Never seen this before, so I wonder if it`s a new way to avoid customs. Or maybe because it`s the first time I`ve ordered anything over £18 from them, they might have always done this for packages over the customs limit.

Mark.

If it`s an R2 title, Play pay the customs charge for you. If it`s an R1 title, you could be charged.

It was neither in this case, it was a twin pack of Playstation 2 Memory Cards for the kids, very cheap @ £29.99 a pair for genuine Sony ones :-)

Thought Play ship all their R1 DVDs from Belgium. If that`s the case then you shouldn`t get caught on discs over £18 ???

It is a common misconception that Play are safe from customs charges for R1 as they reship from Belgium. This is not the case as they are not officially in the EU at that stage as held in an "Offshore" environment, only when they forward to you in the UK do they enter the EU for tax purposes so customs can catch you if over £18. In the run up to Christmas there were reports on the DVD Forums of quite a few people being caught as customs are extra vigilent then.

R2 DVDs and Games (including accessories) are fine with no customs risk in the UK as they ship from Jersey and if over £17.99 they pay the tax on your behalf, which is why the postage label says UK tax paid. This is a legal requirement for Channel Island companies and any who do not can get fined.
