Annoyed with Richer Sounds!! Now delighted with Richer Sounds
Went to my local branch especially today for a Panny E50 DVD recorder. WAs in there for £300, asked them to price match with Amazons £250, assistant agreed, went out back and then said that they are not allowed to price match on DVD recorders!!!
I asked where on the window does it state this, anywhere in the price match promise. He told me that it wasnt there and to complain to H.O.
I checked out the website afterwards and it is stated there, but nowhere else on the shop window. Surely this is against Trading Standards Laws?
They have made the promise in the shop with no stipulations, yet they add one to the internet but not anywhere else. Richer Sounds will be getting a call from me tomorrow morning to complain about this to see what I can do.

RE: Annoyed with Richer Sounds!!
Go for it!
Whilst as a whole I have no problems with Richer Sounds, I do not like the situation you have found yourself in and wish you well. Let us know how it turns out.
RE: Annoyed with Richer Sounds!!
As an alternative write directly to Julian Richer with your complaint...he tends to answer each one individually and has sent me vouchers and pricematched as well...he`s a REALLY nice guy :D (BTW I`ve complained twice)
Just make sure you complain about having to travel, wasted time, disapointment, won`t recommend etc etc
RE: Annoyed with Richer Sounds!!
I was told by customer services to write to Julian Richer and they gave me a freepost address. However, snail mail alwys seems to take forever to respond to so I sent them an email for his personal attention. I just hope that I get a reply soon.
I really want that DVD recorder and feel that their offer should be matched
Nothing in shop states otherwise
In the sales brochure they state CD recorders excluded
On the internet there is a small line that excludes DVD recorders. They are not even consistent. I dont want to buym from the brochure (my item is not listed anyway) nor do I want to buy from the net. I went into the store to buy, and if they price matched I would happily go back and buy the item today.

RE: Annoyed with Richer Sounds!!
Hi Mattwhite1
Found myself in exactly the same position as you a few weeks before Xmas. Narrowed it down to the Panasonic or JVC. Saw richer Sounds doing the price match thing, but when I contacted one of their branches I was told the same as you were. :/ Must admit I did not see the exclusion in their brochure issue 257 Oct/Nov and on rechecking just now I still can't see it. The only thing I can think of is that they were seeing how popular these objects were going to be and so excluded them.
I suppose they are within their rights to do so.
Don't know what area you are, but if it's Ilford or Stratford, PRC for £245 as advertised in "What Video & Widescreen TV" Jan 2004 :) . Check availability before going if you can though.
RE: Annoyed with Richer Sounds!!
I think the would be covered by the O&M act which allows for genuine mistakes by retailers in their advertising.

nor do I want to buy from the net. The simple fact is it costs more to have a High street retail outlet so the margins have to be higher. It costs alot of money to have people who know what they are talking about.
Saying that, It`s worth a try.
All the best,

RE: Annoyed with Richer Sounds!!
Has anyone written to Richer Sounds, and how long did it take to get a response?

RE: Annoyed with Richer Sounds!!
Had a phone call on my voicemail from richer sounds, they have sent me an email apparently that if I print off and take to the store they will price match for me

RE: Annoyed with Richer Sounds!!
It looks to me that you have got a result. Can I ask, was the panasonic recorder you saw advertised at Amazon multi-region for £250?. I have been looking all over for a best price panny and thought Amazons was not multi-region. Would you let me know what dvd-r discs you intend to use and where is the best price?.
