Yep, but only `cos the muppets crammed 4 dvds into a single box. So the lesson is, order less than the customs limit at a time or simply make sure they aren`t all available on ordering. They seem happy enough to send them out in single mailings normally.

I have noticed a lot more of my Dvdsoon packages getting customs stamps at the Mount Pleasant London sorting office recently, so they might be getting targetted to make sure they are still making proper declarations..

vernall,
I think you will be charged 17.5% of £20, plus a £4 "handling" charge by Royal Mail. When I had a customs charge it was £5.07 (roughly 17.5% of £28.99, the value of the boxset) plus the £4 handling charge.

[Insert humourous quote here.]
My DVD collection.

It`s actually more than that. They add the shipping cost to the value of the item, charge something like 3.5% import duty on top, then they calculate VAT based on that total amount.

So on a £20 item with £3 postage, you`d pay:

Import duty: £0.81
VAT: £4.17
Handling charge: £4.00

Total: £8.98

Considering it`s only £2.00 over the limit, that is a lot of money. :(

I`ve had the Sherlock Holmes Collection #3 pre-ordered since 10 Dec from DVDSoon - at that time there was no concern over customs fees, but the set arrived today, 60.98 Canadian dollars (~ 24 quid) and there was a charge of £8.47 :(

I ordered Soap Season 1 for around £14. What`s the limit before you get charged?
