Page 1 of CD WOW Selling Pirates?
Retailer Reviews Forum
I purchased Around the World in 80 days from CD-WOW and listed it on ebay after watching it. Well ebay tugged the auction, when I queried this they informed me that it was a pirate copy?
I informed them where I got it from and they told me it was definately an illegal copy as Disney own the distribution rights and the one CD-WOW sell is not disney. Does this mean our favourite retailer is palming us off with bootlegs?
Is this it here. Strange that its a region free disk. Just noticed at bottom of review there is Quote:
*PRC release does that mean anything to anyone.

Yes that is the one. That is an illegal copy according to ebay.
Copies not intented for sale (for whatever reason) are bound to slip through the cracks from time to time. If CD WOW were selling pirates knowlegably or not, it would be suicide for DVD online retailers in general. They`d be swooped on instantly, and considering how serious it all seems to be taken now (funding international terrorism), the element of distrust from powerful regulation bodies would be seeded. Although i`m not sure i buy the whole terrorism arguement. They`ve been saying that about the cheap fags from the guy in the corner of your local for years, and i still can`t resist `em!

People`s Republic of China?
J Mark Oates
Reincarnation: I don`t mind it on tinned fruit, but I can`t stand it in tea or coffee.
When i saw this thread title, i immediately thought `Mines a BlueBeard`.

Shall I email them and tell them that they are selling pirate copies ?
Email ebay and query whether they consider non US or non UK releases as pirates whether or not they were released under licence in the relevant regions ?
I emailed CDWOW enquiring what PRC Stood for and I got a response today.
Quote:
PRC = People`s Republic of China. This is the Mainland China release
and is
currently the only one available.
Thanks for your query,
Best Regards,
James

I doubt whether they understand or even care about the distinction - they probably just do whatever Disney say.
