Region 1. Best place to shop?

HairyLikeMonkey (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 9th August 2001, 20:00

Apart from play247 what are the best places to shop for reg1 dvds. I`m looking for fast delivery to the UK, no customs charges, reasonable prices.

Haven`t used `em myself (yet), but people here seem to have good things to say about dv-depot.com.

Hope this helps.

http:\\www.dv-depot.com - good prices, great delivery tracking and good for box sets - never paid taxes on any DV-Depot stuff. See their site for testimonals in their customer forum for delivery details. The downside is delivery costs. DHL delivery very efficient 3-4 days from Canada.

http:\\www.dvdboxoffice.com another Canadian site good prices(bill yourself in Canadian dollars - works out cheaper), did have a problem with delivery, but has improved vastly in the last month or so. Delivers inside 5 working days, for free. Good for disks up to value of £18 (or £36 if marked as gift). No guarantees on taxes, can be hit and miss(i.e. luck).
If you lose it`s approx 21% extra to pay (customs+VAT)

http:\\www.futureent.com based in UK - so no tax probs. V.good delivery but have R1 specials in separate non-searchable section - in alphabetical order though. This can mean finding a higher priced `normal stock` item if you search rather than look thru the `cheap R1` list. Excellent prices. free delivery.

Generally, the Canadian sites get stuff sooner, but importing is risky if the value of the order >£36. Customs can also delay/open what they like/lose/damage it. Safest bet is Futureent.
