Page 1 of Anyone ordered from dell lately?

I placed an order with dell for a laptop on the 21 Feb.
At the order page it said there was a 2 week delay in delivery of this laptop, & delivery would be "Estimated Delivery Date (on or before this date): 28/03/2008".
I just clicked the order confirmation e mail today, just to check the details, & my order is listed as dispatched!
The delivery date is still listed as before 28/03.
Has anyone ordered from dell recently? What I want to know, is how long did it take from dispatch to delivery.
It can't take more than a few days for it to get from Ireland to London, can it?
Om the webpage it says "Status of delivery: Your order is currently with the carrier and a detailed status on your delivery should be available shortly."
I need to make sure someone is at home to sign for it, so I need some idea of how long it will take to get here.

You`ll get a call tomorrow and it`ll be delivered Tuesday morning.

I ordered mine on Tuesday 5th Feb and i had an estimated delivery date of the 18th, i got a call from the carrier on the Thursday and it was delivered the next day (8th). 4-5 day turnaround for most people.

On a side note, you would not believe how many people have said "You ordered a new pc with visa! My mothers, uncles, next door neighbors windows cleaners nieces boyfriend aunt, ordered a visa pc & they hate it! its the worst windows ever!
(Slightly exaggerated there, but you get the picture)
I may well hate it, but I'm willing you give it a try.
If I really don't like it, I'll wipe it & install XP
Anyway, once again thank you for the replies.

I`ve been using Vista on my laptop for a few months now no problem but i`m contemplating installing XP on my desktop. Vista is fine on the Laptop but i reckon i`d be more comfortable with XP on the machine that i use on a regular basis.

Pat - On the day you get the Laptop, i highly recommend you re-install Vista using the provided disc, it removes all the pre-loaded s*** that Dell think your system needs. Trust me, there is a lot of it.

Dell quite often run out of screens. I ordered a few laptops before christmas and they took f***ing ages to get here. If theres a reason for delay, its probably that or some component shortage.

As far as vista is concerned, for a standalone laptop, its fine, but it does take some getting used to. I wouldnt use it in a corporate environment, though.

Ordered from Dell and went with XP on my lap top. My son uses both in school and says they fight over getting to XP every time as they all hate vista! Orderded mine on the 14th.................still waiting :(

just checked the online tracking, its in Raheen, had to Google that, its in County Limerick, so hope it gets here Wednesday or Thursday

Bryan, you said i should re-install Vista using the provided disc to wipe the pre loaded software.
Don`t think i can, as i paid for the anti virus software, the last laptop i ordered from dell, i didn`t get any disc for that, it was pre loaded.
That laptop had loads of rubbish stuff on it, i uninstalled it all one by one, took me ages.

If you`ve actually bought the software you should have a license key to go with it. If it doesn`t come with a disc then you should be able to download the software from DELL or the developer and use your key.

I`m sure your allowed to use your license on a max of 3 machines in your home so you should definately have the disc bundled.

Bought a few items well over a month ago. Only received 2 out of the 5 items. E-mailed them this weekend telling them to basically give my money back to hurry the hell up. Its a joke.
