Rings Electrical --BEWARE

nodrog (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 30th March 2002, 19:41

I got a letter today from an Insolvency company dealing with the voluntary liquidation of a Colombo Trading Limited trading as Rings.
I bid and won a TV on the electrobid .co.uk website which is advertised on the ringselectrical.com website.
The rings phone number and colombo are one and the same.
Presently i`ve been stung for £326 and hopefully i should get this back via my credit card company.
I`m probably not the only one involved in this.

PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DEALING WITH WWW.RINGS ELECTRICAL.COM AND WWW.ELECTROBID.CO.UK OR YOU COULD GET YOUR FINGERS BURNED

Nodrog,
I won an auction on 2/3/02 (a Toshiba 40wh08b total price including freight £870).
I have not heard anything yet from anyone but Barclaycard want documentary evidence of Rings insolvency to proceed with any claim- that is when the form arrives, they supposedly sent it out the 23/3.

I wonder if there is any chance you could give me the contact details for the insolvency firm. By the way, I think I have found the home address of Mr Dominic Colombo - Mr Colombo Trading himself. I will happily pass this on to you if you require it.
I have also asked both Freeserve and Virgin for their help but both distance themselves from the situation, despite their extensive merchant vetting systems! Funny how Freeserve have left the Rings sites active isn`t it?
If anybody else has any further information perhaps they could publish it as well.

I hope this helps,as i understand it Barclaycard should reimburse you the money as they are equally liable under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1977.TSB informed me their Disputes Processing Dept would deal.
I got notice that Fortune Peat required details of Proof of Debt by midday 8th April 2002.
