Some great performances from Carrick and Rooney - :D
Thought Beckham did nothing until he scored and then ironically seemed to get better the `iller` he got. Some good tackling back.
Gerrard made some good runs and good passes but Lampard has been pretty poor the whole competition and today was no exception. His shooting has been dire and he`s not even forcing saves from the keeper.
Lennon looked lively again when he came on.
Downing for Gerrard? Eh? :/

Don`t think I`ve ever watched an England team reach a tournament quarter final and felt so flat after...
Rooney worked hard, Ashley Cole played well though he was giving a lot of space towards the end. Carrick and Gerrard did reasonably.
On the negative side the central defence is looking more wobbly every match, Beckham was invisible creatively (with one obvious exception) and Lampard is harming his reputation with every performance.
I think that`s the last time we`ll get away with playing badly. Portugal or Holland wouldn`t let us off the hook.

Christ, unless we`re scissor-kicking in goals from the half-way line it`s never good enough. England were the far superior team against a pretty ordinary Ecuador. But a win`s a win. Perhaps we`ll raise our game against a better side (as we did in the Argentina friendly).
