TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR Season 08/09 thread

First day of the Premier League season 08/09.

Sat 16/08/09 - Middlesbrough vs Spurs

Should be a decent match. Let`s hope the Ramos revolution can do something about our rubbish league starts. Feel free to comment, during the match, if you`re watching a stream.

Come on you Spurs, first day win, please! We`ve got to beat Boro, right?

Very excited about this season, Ramos`s first in charge.

not too exciting a first half. spurs look ok, giovanni is threatening. bent is anonymous though (4-5-1 isn`t helping him). boro had a goal ruled out for no reason and are reminding spurs fans that assou-ekotto is a rubbish defender. hope for better from bentley/lennon in the 2nd half.

Normal Spurs start, eh! I must say I`m a bit disappointed... :(

Saw them v AS Roma last weekend. 5 - 0 did flatter Spurs somewhat. I think going 2 down in 5 minutes knocked the stuffing out of Roma!

Anyway, having seen a couple of games on TV as well, Spurs do better when Bent and Giovanni Dos Santos aren`t the front two. Recording the Boro highlights so will have a look tomorrow.

I`m still assuming Berbatov is off so we need another striker in his style I reckon.

Said before, never judge a team by pre season friendlies which are only good for tinkering, match fitness and making money :)

Here here Mbilko. They have been creaming their pants since the friendlies started. Now look what happens when the real stuff starts. They looked poor at the back today.

And as for Berbatov ----------- did you see him once he came on. Oh dear!

Anyways oh how we laugh. ;) ;) ;)

Not sure who was actually that confident after the friendlies. I think we all recognised pre-season matches for what they are.

I don`t think we`re going to do particularly well till the new players settle in and we have purchased a replacement for Berbatov.

The irony being that if you`re going to judge a team on one away game - the first of the season - that makes you no different from anyone who thinks that friendlies are super important. Not that anyone did...

God I wish we could choose to filter out the stupid members of this forum.

Would have been nice to get a first day win but it`s going to be a long season, and a lot can happen over the coming months. So not exactly disheartened, but I did expect a better performance from the boys.

Because you saw highlights, right? He was actually pretty good overall, and we improved much more once he was on and balancing the team out.
