just had the pleasure of watching Theo Walcott run his socks off for 90 mins in a Saints Legends XI vs Russell Martin XI charity match. Lad has still got it, player of the match despite scoring 1, and then missing a penalties in the penalty shoot out :(

as Glen Cockerill (manager for our team) said when the interviewer said about Theo giving them trouble "he should do, I'm old enough to be his dad" :)

Interesting what you were saying about autographs etc. that's always been an after match things here. 1st home match of the season the attendace was quite low, so when one of the girls asked if she get selfies, autographs I said ok, 1 was with her favourite player, the players were so nice and gracious, happily taking the phone of the kids to get a good selfie etc. some of them looked like they'd much rather be in a hot bath/have sit down, but nice they give up time for the next gen.

Sadly, they've gone the Chelsea route now, but it was obvious it had to happen for player and fan safety. it was getting to the stage where with 5 -10 mins to go kids were getting out their seats and crowding round the front, and some ppl were asking for shin pads, boots and shirts already! :(So now they do an organised thing in the fan zone after.

Luckily, my girls got picked to be mascots for the cup match last week, shame it was at Silverlake (Eastleigh's ground where they did a few mid week cup matches last season as well) not St Mary's but wasn't going to say no. Even then they didn't get much time with the players, they had a good chat with the head coach while players were warming up, and then when they went back to change from warm up kits to proper kits they had a few selfies, and then went out with the team, photo in team line up etc :)

Glad your girls had a good time.

I've been quite impressed with Theo's first outings as a pundit and if he wants to move to hosting and presenting in the future I think he'd be good for it.

The problems with kids at the match I referred to seemed to be more interaction with mascots or whoever was allowed 'backstage' before kick off.
Players should always make time for pics and interaction whenever possible, post match or at other events.
I think the women's team are quite good at that and are still close enough to feeling that the fame is really a gift rather than the entitlement you sometimes feel from some male players.

Well that looks like the tin hat on our Women's season already.
Eidevall's resigned.
Don't suppose they fancy buying out Wiegman's contract

Good news! No statement from him that I could see, which feels like he was pushed?

Report I heard was that he knew the target for this season and he walked in and offered his resignation.
It seems there wasn't any 'Oh please don't' on offer so he went.

My worry in these situations is always that someone is appointed too early as they happen to be available.

Personally I'd leave it with Renee Siegers until they find someone else or, depending how long it takes, she may well fill the position well enough to be offered it permanently.

May as well, at least until someone who is tactically astute comes along.

International break about to start after Valerenga and West Ham so I suspect they'll find someone then.

A dominant performance with a few mistakes, one of which led to the goal. Generally we played lethargically but Valerenga weren't that great themselves so it just felt bitty.

Still, it's a win, which is important!

I wonder if just being used to playing on a tighter pitch, then being at the Emirates, is part of that.

Piddling around trying to get a working stream so missed the first goal.

Final score looks fine but for me we made heavy weather of it.
West Ham may give us more problems than Valerenga.
