Haunting of Hill House (Netflix)

Bloody hell. Don't watch this one on your own, in the pitch-dark, and after midnight like I did...

Terrific ten-parter. Can't recommend highly enough.

Was it really 10 episodes? I binged it in 2 days. It felt like about 6 episodes. I really enjoyed it. Excellent production. Very well acted.

Still alive and kicking. You can't get rid of me that easily!

One of the best horror shows ever, I'd say.

Read this tweet thread from Mike Flanagan, the director, for details of how they did episode 6. Fascinating.

Essentially, 51 minutes of the 53:38 running time of the episode was made up of 5 takes. If you've seen Hitchcock's Rope, you'll know how difficult that is, plus THOHH was a whole lot more technical.

My god, this is just incredible.  We're 7 episodes in and can't wait to do more tonight.
It was an episode or so before I got to know who was who - in each time period too - but still loved it.
I hadn't read this thread (thankfully no spoilers..) but watched Ep6 last night and I just thought 'This is some take..' but didn't say anything.  It then went on for another good few minutes so I mentioned it to the wife (who was probably watching between her fingers....).  It still carried on for another 7 or 8 minutes with amazing camera work, acting, lighting, writing, directing - everything.  I can't imagine the tension as they were 15 minutes or so into a scene, just praying it all goes right to the end.  I can really imagine the actors and crew creeping around the scene behind the camera, the children hiding and coming out when needed etc.
Brilliant stuff indeed.

Finished it last night as well! Don't even want to put things in spoiler tags, in case someone is tempted to read them.

Just a great series, what a horror series should be! Unpredictable, doing it's own thing, not relying on music or jump scares over story, but still using music and jump scares!
