Synopsis:
Shekar (Arvind Sawmy) a Hindu boy falls in love with a Muslim girl called Saira (Manisha Koirala). This presents many problems for the local villagers and their families who believe that one should marry into their own religion and creed. Shekar moves to the city of Bombay and Saira follows him later on.
Both marry and begin to live their life. Despite their religion differences, they are happy and as a result have two twin boys Kamal (Master Hriday) and Kabir (Master Harsha). But this is soon disrupted as on the 6th December 1992 (based on a real event) a violent riot between Muslims and Hindus erupted in the city of Bombay, causing many deaths and many innocent life’s ruined.
